It's a hard thing emotionally to take it from someone you know, I would have to imagine it being harder for a stranger. But I'm totally on board for giving to someone you know. It's a wonderful thing. But it's not because strangers won't give their organs while their alive that so many people die needing one, it's because not enough people become organ donors after they die. I can't see people not wanting to help out 8 or 9 others need their parts after they die. That's the real issue. There are so many people who would give, but don't make that clear enough for their loved ones in time.
